Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition defined by persistent deficits in social communication and interaction across multiple contexts and restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviors, interests, or activities, with symptoms present from early childhood impacting functioning. These core features include challenges with social-emotional give-and-take, nonverbal cues (like eye contact), and relationships, alongside repetitive movements, insistence on sameness, restricted interests, and sensory sensitivities.
